The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that Almond Street will be closed to traffic in each direction between Van Buren Street and Taylor Street, in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, beginning Monday, July 8, at 6 a.m. through Tuesday, July 23, at 6 a.m., to facilitate advance utility work as part of the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project.
Motorists traveling northbound are advised to follow the signed detour to south on Renwick Avenue, to west on Martin Luther King East, to north on Oakwood Avenue, to east on Taylor Street .
Motorists traveling southbound are advised to follow the signed detour to west on Taylor Street, to south on Oakwood Avenue, to east on Martin Luther King East, to north on Renwick Avenue.
Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
