Syracuse, NY- Parents Promoting Dance and Wacheva Cultural Arts will celebrate the opening of “One Village Dance Centre, Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 117 Harvard Place at 4:00 pm.

One Village Dance Center (OV) is the new home of Parents Promoting Dance and Wacheva Cultural Arts.  It is a place for the study, creation and performance of dance & drum in Central New York.  It is dedicated to: nurturing and developing dancers and dancers at heart & providing a home for the continuance of cultural dance traditions and space for artists to create new work.  The centre also houses Syracuse University Dance Residencies.

One Village is located in the heart of the Westcott Nation of Syracuse recently opened its doors to the public on September 14, 2009.  Its grand opening will be October 24th 2009. 

Celebration Program Highlights
The centre will unveil its banner at 4:15, the founders will have remarks at 4:45 pm and the organizations will showcase their students at 5pm and 6pm.

Parents Promoting Dance (PPD) was founded in 1999.  The goal is to inspire positive self-esteem, intellectual curiosity, physical development and accomplishment through the study of dance.  PPD fosters pre-professional training courses.  We also offer open classes for students exploring their dance interests. . Classes commence in the fall and culminating with a year- end performance in June.  Students are afforded the opportunity to study daily as well as intensively with master instructors. In addition, PPD provides performance opportunities, as well as, opportunities to attend performances. Students who have chosen dance as a career have been accepted in some of the best dance conservatories in the country including: Ailey/Fordham, UArts, Temple & North Carolina School of the Arts. Students have also been accepted and participated in summer intensive programs with NYSSSA, Ailey, Philadanco and most recently the Syracuse University Summer Dance Intensive.
